Help us help you

From time to time I've put surveys on the site to gain insight from all of you. However, the problem has been that I've had to post them in various forums and with the amount of site traffic we get, the polls would get lost in a couple of days and response rates would drop way off. To help curtail that, I had Sears create a new discussion forum devoted entirely to the surveys. That way anyone can easily find all our surveys and respond to as many as they like. The more responses we get the most statistically valid the data is, so we can rely on it more heavily. The Origami team at MS is super committed to hearing from you and making decisions based on your feedback. Whether you are a current owner or just intrigued by the opportunity space, please vote so we can hear from you and make the most informed decisions. Thanks for all your continued interest and support.

Oh and don’t worry, the Origami bees are busy at work with some killer new products, so stay tuned!

Thanks,
Dustin

This is a good idea, but I think it is a major mistake not allowing open replies for continued discussion.  In all the polls posted so far, I didn't really feel like any of the multiple-choice selections really fully covered my answer to the question being asked.

Even the one that might seem the most straightforward, "Who has the best UMPC?", really could use some elaboration.  I think the currently available models all have some strengths and weaknesses and the "best" is pretty dependent on how someone intends to use them.

I really hope you want more meaningful feedback than just simplistic mulitple-choice responses in this type of unscientific web poll.  I strongly encourage opening these questions up to actual discussions.

7. Great battery life.

No, I don't need ability to run Visual Studio or Visio 2007. So I don't see why do I need machine running full XP.

About Dustin

I've been at Microsoft for 9 years and I interned here for 3 years in college, so basically I've been around for a while. My technical background is in application development, web development, database design and to a lesser extent networking. I've been managing teams at Microsoft for over 8 years now in various capacities. I love software, technology, marketing and business so I tend to dabble in a lot of areas. In my spare time I hang out with my awesome wife and two young boys. When I'm not golfing that is :)
